Why you'll like it
All these templates are built using our 15 years of experience and incorporate all the lessons we learned. Together these libraries show how you can create libraries that are re-usable as is, but still flexible enough to use in any project. We've also taken great care that they use generally recognized best practices so they are all responsive and accessible by default. Finally we've made sure they can be configured with minimal effort, so you don't have to know all the intricacies or inner workings to effectively use them.
We've provided an example layout, the madcat demo theme, to show how to use these tools. It also shows that you need minimal programming skills to use these libraries to build your very own sites and designs.
Each of the above components and libraries also has its own tutorial, reference and set of examples to play with.
The terms 'gadget', 'filter' and 'plugin' have a specific meaning. All of the above are libraries or sets of templates, which can be applied to any project or site you make in Ariadne.
A layout library is simply a library which has as its main purpose to define how your site looks and behaves, when browsing or editing.
A plugin is an extension to a layout, it cannot be used standalone. It may replace existing parts of a layout library. You use it by just including the plugin library.
A gadget is a predefined view that has prebuilt functionality which can be used in a layout library. It doesn't replace anything, you must manually incorporate it in your layout. A gadget is a re-usable component that can be made to fit any design or layout.
A filter is a way to control what is shown in a gadget. It includes a user interface and a set of event listeners to change the contents of a gadget.
